Created in 2005, the European Champagne Ambassadors Awards Competition celebrates its 10th year. Since the introduction of the competition, the title “Champagne Ambassadors” has been awarded to 73 candidates from 9 countries; 27 of them received a European prize (Laureate, Vice-Laureate and Special Competition Prize).
The European Champagne Ambassadors Awards Competition promotes vocational training by highlighting professionals who contribute to improving awareness of the Champagne appellation and appreciation of the diversity of their wines.
In 2014, instead of the competition, the Champagne Committee brought together the Champagne Ambassadors from each of the nine participating countries at national meetings intended to strengthen links between these educators “par excellence”. In order to formalise the values that unite them and which they share with the Champagne profession, a charter of the Champagne Ambassadors has been drawn up.
This week, the European laureates of the competition gathered once more in Champagne for a few days of friendly reunions and discussions with Champagne houses and winegrowers. During the visits and tastings, they were able to deepen their knowledge of their shared passion: the vineyards, wines and history of Champagne.
The Champagne Committee paid homage to the Champagne Ambassadors at a prestigious gala evening at the Palais du Tau in Rheims, in the exact place where the celebrations following the crowning of French kings took place.
