The Champagne Bureau located in Washington, DC, is the U.S. representative of the Comité Champagne, the trade association that represents all the grape growers and houses of Champagne, France. The Bureau works to educate US consumers about the uniqueness of the wines of Champagne and expand their understanding of the importance location plays in the creation of all wines. We are intently focused on ensuring Champagne is properly protected in the United States, as it is in most of the rest of the world.

In 2017, 23,096,645 bottles of Champagne were shipped to the United States in 2017, an increase of 5.9 percent from 2016. This marks the fifth consecutive year of growth in Champagne shipments to the United States. Additionally, the value of these shipments reached more than $724.8 million (€585.8 million) in 2017, an 8.5 percent increase from 2016 and the highest of any country outside of France.
The United States is the second largest export market for Champagne in the world (behind the United Kingdom) and largest outside of Europe in terms of volume. At the same time, the United States is the number one export market in terms of the total value of the Champagne shipments that crossed its borders. Worldwide, Champagne shipments totaled more than 307 million bottles with a record value of more than $6 billion (€4.9 billion).
