The internet and social networks supplied the vehicle for a global Champagne Day on 25 October, giving Champagne lovers all around the world the chance to toast their favourite tipple together – whether a real toast or a virtual one.

Among the participants, our Champagne Bureaus were up there with the best. The UK's #ChampagneShared initiative on Twitter was judged the best of the Champagne Day projects.

The US came top for best photo or video on the theme 'what Champagne means to me is...' (www.champagneis.com).

And Australia scored in a more traditional fashion with a masked ball down by the ocean.

All in all, a good moment to remember that Champagne only comes from Champagne – just sit back and let the bubbly work its magic!
