The St Vincent Guild of Champagne winegrowers came to Reims on Saturday 16 January following nine years away and as part of the 25th anniversary of the city’s historic monuments being included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
90 Guilds of champagne Houses and winegrowers joined together in a colourful parade in the heart of Reims.
2015 marked the start of a new era for the Champagne Region
The Champagne Slopes, Houses and Cellars being included on UNnesco’s World Heritage List in the Living Cultural Landscapes Category further cemented the Exceptional Universal Value of the Champagne landscape.
Reims Cathedral, which incidentally has held Unesco World Heritage status since 1991, was this year’s venue for the St Vincent Festival, the day when the patron saint of winegrowers is commemorated. The festival was attended by Irina Bokova, the Director-General of UNESCO.
