COMITE CHAMPAGNE FUNDING
The comité Champagne is authorised to collect taxes from all those within its jurisdiction to cover administrative costs and to achieve everything that is in the industry’s interest.
Two taxes are levied:
- A tax on the value of the quantities of grapes picked, partly paid by the growers and partly by the négociants
- A tax on all consignments of Champagne.
Receipts are in the order of 19 million euros a year. One quarter of the CIVC’s financial resources is spent on operating expenses, one third on research and technical actions, the other third is dedicated to the defence of the appellation, communication and public relations.
